Hsuanyeh Law Group P.C. (“HLG”) is an Intellectual Property (IP) boutique law firm based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded by inventor-entrepreneur Hsuanyeh Chang, PhD, with a doctorate in theoretical physics, HLG specializes in all aspects of IP. This includes patent/trademark preparation and prosecution, post-grant proceedings (e.g., inter partes review, post-grant review) in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), litigation actions in federal district court, and proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC).

As part of our commitment to delivering top-tier legal services, we are 
currently expanding our patent litigation practice to meet the increasing demands of our diverse clientele.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Oversee and manage complex patent litigation from initiation to resolution. Develop case strategies, including legal theories and arguments, and ensure the best possible outcome for our clients.
  • Client Representation: Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations. Present and argue legal positions persuasively while maintaining the highest professional standards.
  • Discovery and Motion Practice: Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs with compelling legal arguments supported by thorough research, in compliance with relevant rules and deadlines.
  • Technical Analysis: Collaborate with the HLG team, expert witnesses, inventors, and in-house counsel to understand the intricacies of patented technologies. Assist expert witnesses in the preparation of filed reports. Analyze patents and accused products to prepare effective claim charts.
  • Discovery Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive discovery plan. Collaborate with in-house counsel, team members and expert witnesses to ensure all relevant information is identified, collected, and analyzed effectively.
  • E-Discovery Management: Oversee the entire e-discovery process, including the identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, and production of electronic and paper documents. Utilize e-discovery tools and technologies.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and provide comprehensive analysis on complex legal issues. Stay abreast of changes in patent law, relevant court decisions, and industry trends. 
  •  Document Review: Supervise and participate in document review processes. Analyze and assess the relevance, privilege, and confidentiality of documents.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate as necessary with colleagues, including other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, ensuring seamless case management and fostering a mutually supportive work environment.


  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, required
  • Technical background in EE, MechE, CS, Physics, or related fields, required; advanced degree preferred
  • Admitted to at least one state bar in good standing, required
  • Admitted to the patent bar, preferred
  • 3-5 years large law firm patent litigation experience, required
  • Strong litigation and case management skills, required
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication abilities, required
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, required
